Community IT August 2016 News: Welcome August
Our focus in the third quarter of 2016 has been on IT Management at nonprofit organizations. This month we are turning specifically to the topic of managing IT infrastructure projects.Often hidden behind the scenes, infrastructure problems can arise seemingly out of thin air. In a world of competing priorities, giving IT infrastructure projects the attention they deserve can be a challenge.Whether it is the departure of a vital staff person, the inevitable aging of systems, or the need to adopt new and improved solutions, the organization may discover that they face more problems than they were anticipating.
If and when this happens, the organization will inevitably need to put time and energy into necessary upgrades and improvements.
Managing IT projects doesn’t have to be so daunting that you put them off until your organization is at real risk of downtime, data loss and other catastrophic failures.
Join me this month for a presentation on our methodology for nonprofit managers who need to manage an IT project.
We start with discovering your business needs and being able to link them to IT initiatives, so you can make a case for the ROI in your budget allocations and to your colleagues.
Our community often agonizes over hiring consultants and vetting vendors – I will address the ins and outs of good communication and due diligence and invite you to share your tips and advice. I’ll focus our discussion on IT infrastructure projects nonprofits might seek to undertake, but there will be plenty in this webinar for managers of any IT project.
Join me August 25th from 4-5pm EDT for Planning and IT Project Management for Nonprofit Managers!
I’ve often discussed planning, roles, and responsibilities – for more see last month’s presentation on building a nonprofit IT department.
