If you are receiving anti-spam protection from Positini you may have noticed some emails announcing changes to your service. Google is rolling the features of Postini’s anti-spam service into Google Apps and Google Vault starting in 2013.
The short answer is that yes, Postini is going away. The good news is that we’ve had some advance warning on this and have been researching other solutions which can provide the same, or better level of anti-spam filtering that we’ve come to expect from a hosted platform. We’re actually well on our way to finding a replacement solution and have done preliminary research on 3 systems with a few more under tentative review.
While the prospect of migrating to a new system is daunting, the good news is that the market of anti-spam providers has matured greatly since we started using Postini nearly 6 years ago. In our initial evaluations we’re finding better filtering controls, easier management and more importantly an easy to use message continuity service.
The last feature has been on our want list for some time, but has been cost prohibitive for our clients. As we seek to leverage the collective power of our clients to negotiate better pricing, it looks like we’ll be able to find a solution that can do everything that Postini could, plus provide some additional features that weren’t available in the old platform..
Migrating to a new anti-spam filtering service will be straightforward for most organizations. One of our key evaluation criteria is how smooth and transparent a process this will be for the organizations we support. Since we’re a Postini customer as well, we’ll be making the migration along with all of you. If you have any questions at all, or want to give input into our selection process, please contact your account manager. We expect to be ready to start transitioning to the new platform starting in November.
