A document file storage solution in the cloud has to solve specific business needs, ideally specific business needs of the people who are going to use it.
When we begin an assessment for an organization contemplating a move to a cloud solution we are sticklers for defining a valid business case. Some examples we’ve come across of inadequate business cases: “I want to replace my old file server” “the cloud is great!” “I just want to move to the cloud!”
Once you delve into the business case – the problem that your current systems are not solving – you will better understand the benefits that a cloud system will bring; and the organization culture, strengths, and limitations that need to be taken into consideration in choosing your next platform.
While we do think SharePoint is a great solution for some organizations, it is a large undertaking that takes stakeholder commitment and time. Depending on the problem you are trying to solve, there are other solutions that may fit better into your culture, and be more cost- and time-effective.
In this webinar Steve Longenecker and Johanny Torrico examine several alternatives to SharePoint including Dropbox, Box, and Google Drive specifically.  We answer questions on framing the choice for your organization and what you and your users can expect with each of these cloud based storage systems.
You do not need to have attended our two previous SharePoint webinars to benefit from this month’s discussion, but if you are contemplating a migration to the cloud you can find the slides and recordings to all our webinars on your choices here.
