Join Matt Eshleman, CTO of Community IT, for a re-release of our Cybersecurity Playbook for Nonprofits, updated to address how AI is changing both the threats nonprofits face and the tools available to defend ourselves.
This isn’t a webinar about AI. It’s a webinar about cybersecurity, the same foundational, budget-conscious approach we’ve been teaching nonprofits for years, with a clear-eyed look at what AI actually changes and what it doesn’t. You’ll notice AI creates more convincing phishing emails, for example, but you still need MFA, staff training, and a plan. Whether or not your organization is using AI tools yourself, your cybersecurity staff training needs to incorporate the new risks and review your AI policy regularly.
We’re also releasing a new companion resource alongside the updated Playbook: Start Here: Nonprofit Cybersecurity Basics, a short guide for accidental techies, staff, executive directors and board members who need to understand what “foundational” cybersecurity requires and why it matters. In this session, Matt will walk through what’s changed in the updated Playbook, cover the basics every nonprofit should have in place, and answer your questions live.

As the Chief Technology Officer at Community IT and our resident cybersecurity expert, Matthew Eshleman is responsible for shaping Community IT’s strategy around the technology platforms used by organizations to be secure and productive. With a deep background in network infrastructure, he fundamentally understands how technology works and interoperates both in the office and in the cloud.
Matt joined Community IT as an intern in the summer of 2000 and after finishing his dual degrees in Computer Science and Computer Information Systems at Eastern Mennonite University, he rejoined Community IT as a network administrator in January of 2001. Matt has steadily progressed up at Community IT and while working full time received his MBA from the Carey School of Business at Johns Hopkins University.
Matt is a frequent speaker on cybersecurity topics for nonprofits and has presented at NTEN events, the Inside NGO conference, Non-Profit Risk Management Summit, ITC conferences, NGO-ISAC, and Credit Builders Alliance Symposium.
